Get OxygenOS 14 on Your OnePlus Phone Starting September 25

OnePlus has announced that it will unveil the next-gen OxygenOS 14 operating system for its OnePlus smartphones on September 25. The latest iteration of the custom software is based on Android 14, and it will bring some improvements in the form of what the company calls the Trinity Engine. OnePlus says that the proprietary platform will improve the synergy between hardware and software on its smartphones, resulting in improved power efficiency, multi-tasking capabilities, and a faster and smoother experience overall.

The Chinese manufacturer must still detail which specific OnePlus devices will be eligible for the update first. However, logic dictates that the OnePlus 11 will be among the first phones to receive the stable version of the new OS, followed by the OnePlus 12 and the upcoming OnePlus Foldable smartphone. The OnePlus Nord 3 and the OnePlus N20 SE will also be eligible if they continue running closed beta programs for the latest builds of OxygenOS 14.

As for what this update brings, OnePlus claims it will make its smartphones “intuitive and free to control” with the help of its new performance suite. The Trinity Engine will include six technologies that combine to create a better user experience, including CPU Vitalization, RAM Vitalization, ROM Vitalization, HyperBoost, HyperTouch, and HyperRendering. OnePlus says the new platform will significantly improve speed, performance, storage space, responsiveness, and screen quality.

The update will be rolled out to OnePlus devices activated with the Community App, which can be downloaded via the Google Play Store. Aside from the usual bug fixes and stability improvements, it will come with some “new features,” such as improved navigation gestures and a more unified notification design. OnePlus is also promising a “refined” camera app with better autofocus and image stabilization, and it will be adding more options for sharing files and videos.

In a post on its community forum, OnePlus says that the new software is designed to deliver enhanced experiences for all users. It will provide a “faster and more consistent experience across multiple scenarios, from intense mobile gaming to long-term use,” thanks to the new performance platform. OnePlus says it will be “consistently improving” the Android 14 software to ensure that OnePlus phones are always at their best.

This will be the second major OS update that OnePlus will release this year. Earlier this summer, the company released its take on Android Pie as Open Beta 5 for the OnePlus 6. The stable version of the new software will be available to all eligible OnePlus smartphones starting in September. Stay tuned to India Today Tech for more details on the timeline for the rollout of the new OS. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more news on the OnePlus ecosystem. OnePlus says it will update more of its older phones with the new software over time.
